48 hours in Lusaka

Recently had to go to Lusaka to attend the passing of a loved one. A matriarch who built a formidable family and led her kids to be kind and firm leaders in society, it was fitting to pay my last respects in person. I hadn’t been to Lusaka in a while, So I decided to take in the sites.

The city has grown since the last time I was here. A lot of new developments all around. I decided to document my trip for those curious to discover the city.

Where to stay:

The Cubes, the apartments are tastefully decorated and are spacious enough to make you want to extend by another day or two. The structure feels like a loft in the meatpacking district NYC. The staff very friendly and welcoming. They have 2 bars with a plunge pool of sorts.

What I did:

Obviously went to the funeral at Leopard’s Hill Memorial Park, Lawrence and the team have done a wonderful job with maintaining the memorial park. I digress, when in Lusaka with limited time be sure to check out the below.

  • animal interaction and bushwalks at Sakae Paradise Resort
  • Chicago for a cocktail, try their TriNations cocktail and the Jelly Baby shooter
  • Ciela Spa is absolutely stunning and worth a visit, they are a catalyst in bringing luxury to the city

Lusaka is the Capital of Zambia and has some good hidden gems in the capital, the city itself feels very corporate and you have to work a little hard to find the hidden gems to unwind and convert it to a vacation town. Surprise yourself and book a weekend to this beautiful city. Their newly renovated airport is picking up traffic and has flights to most of the SADC countries. Take time out and discover the warmth of HH’s people.
