Let’s Take a Trip Around The World!

South Africa seems to be going through the most at the moment. The new Public Protector, Busisiwe Mkhwebane has ruffled some feathers leaving a lot of South Africans wondering who exactly is she in office to protect?

She is the public protector but is she really protecting the public? Not only has she put more doubt in SA Citizens, the Reserve Bank is also seeking an urgent review on her bid to change its mandate. According to the bank, ‘if the amendment is effected it would strip the bank of its key competency to protect the value of the currency.’ Now that’s a big problem.

The Gupta family is still making headlines in South Africa. It was recently revealed that SA Home Affairs granted them citizenship. This happened back in 2015 when the current minister of Finance, Malusi Gigaba was heading Home Affairs. Malusi Gigaba defended himself and said all was done above board and no rules/law was broken.

Now it’s been reported that rules were infact broken because Ajay Gupta didn’t renounce his Indian citizenship. Apparently the initial Guptas application had been denied by Home Affairs because one needs to be in the country for at least 5years before applying for citizenship. The opposition party EFF released documents showing that Malusi Gigaba broke the law. Let’s wait and see how this is gonna turn out.

Nigerian Producer, Actor, Comedian, Ayo Makun aka AY has done it again. His new movie 10 Days In Sun City opened this past weekend in Nigeria. I have seen AY on stage, but I’ve only watched 2 of his films. I watched 30 Days In Atlanta where he stared with Ramsey Nouah. The film also had Vivica A Fox, Lynn Whitfield and Karlie Redd from Love and Hiphop Atlanta. The 2nd one was A Trip To Jamaica, which stars former Miss Jamaica and model, Rebecca Silvera. If you are a Reality TV fan, you’d remember that Rebecca won The Game’s heart in his reality show – She’s Got Game. I am looking forward to 10 Days In Sun City. This should show the beauty of Sun City, or should I say the beauty of Africa.

Still in cinemas, the long awaited Tupac Shakur Biopic, All Eyez On Me premiered in the USA on Friday 16th June (Pac’s Birthday) Not sure if I really wanna talk about this now but I might as well. The film has received mixed reactions. The negative also came from 50 Cent and Tupac’s friend Jada Pinkett Smith who said there was a lot of lies on the film where their relationship was concerned. I first saw 50 Cent’s complaint but kinda dismissed because we all know how petty Fiddy can be (think Empire/Power saga). But then I was directed to Jada’s complaints. Which then left me wondering why the film makers didn’t include her in the making of the film for accuracy and facts? Then I saw the backlash Jada received from the Americans about her outburst. And then Kat Graham (Jada on the film) went on record and said she and the film had Jada‘s support until the film was aired. Oh well, let me wait till I watch the film myself, I will give you my review then.

Moving on to the good news, Ghanaian musician Stonebwoy married his sweetheart Dr Louisa Ansong a few days ago. Looking at the few pictures shared online, the wedding looks like it was amazing.

We love traditional weddings because they are always on point. We are Africans, and we don’t play when it comes to our big days. Wishing the newlyweds a happy life together. We will share more of their wedding pics on our Captured on Camera feature this week.

With that said, there is always drama when one gets married because not everyone is happy for you right? Stonebwoy’s alleged ex-girlfriend, Betty Ama Fiona wrote a letter expressing how disappointed she was at the musician. She revealed that she’s been in a relationship with Stonebwoy and she was told to keep it a secret to avoid the media from meddling. She says she feels used now because he went a married somebody else while she was keeping things under wraps. It’s tough what women go through. The lies and promises made to us by men sometimes. It’s a struggle from way back, we gotta live with it. If Betty is telling the truth, shame must just keep her head up. Your happily ever after is coming girl.

Speaking of happily ever after, the Real Housewives of Atlanta star, Kenya Moore is off the market. Yes, she is gone with the wind fabulous honey and became Mrs Daly. Kenya got married secretly a few days ago in Saint Lucia. Looks like it was a nice and fresh one. I like that background and the simple set up. I like Kenya’s dress and I also like how simple Marc is dressed but still looking hot.

I am a Kenya lover, most because I feel like she is a nice loyal person that’s very much misunderstood. I am happy that she has found someone. As expected, some say the marriage is fake, some say there is no love there and I hope they are wrong. I just want to see Kenya win. So I am praying she proves everyone wrong and twirls away to eternity with her Marc.

Like I said, there is always that one person that throws a tantrum after every wedding. Remember Kenya’s abusive ex, Matt Jordan from #RHOA ? Well, the brother went and poured his heart out on IG after finding out about the wedding. Lol, Matt is such a queen. After all the drama he caused on the show and also him having said Kenya hired and paid him to be on the show he goes on this victim trip? Boy BYE!!

Still on Reality TV, songstress Keyshia Cole has joined the cast of Love & Hip-hop Hollywood and will be in Season 4 which kicks off soon. I think Keyshia is one of the best vocalists in the world and it’s sad that she has to do reality tv. She is too talented to be busy shooting for dramatic TV instead of performing on stage. Anyway, a girl gotta do what a girl’s gotta do because bills don’t play.

South African actor Chris Gunman Khubeka was laid to rest on the 18th June. The actor apparently committed suicide. His neighbor told SA media that the actor took his own life because his mistress had died and he couldn’t afford to travel to attend her funeral. On the other hand, his wife of 10years said the actor was depressed because he was going through financial problems and couldn’t provide for his family. She believes that’s what made him take his own life. The actor apparently drank all the tablets in the house and hung himself. Sending our deepest condolences to his family.

We end with more sad news. Zimbabwe musician and freedom fighter, Dickson Chingaira popularly known as Cde Chinx passed away 4days ago. He had been ill for a long time. He was 61years old and he’s survived by 2 wives and 14 children. May his soul rest in peace.

That’s it from our news desk.
