Lunathi Mpofu: In Her “It Girl” Era and Owning It

When you go on X every evening it is impossible to not notice that the telenovela ‘Inimba’ would be on the list of trending topics. The conversation would be generally centered around the drama surrounding the lead character of Zoleka who is brilliantly portrayed by Lunathi Mpofu.

They say that every celebrity has that moment that defines their career and this is Lunathi’s “It Girl” era. She is no stranger to the spotlight though, her previous roles have included roles in ‘1802:Love Defies Time’, ‘The River’ and roles on some Netflix shows such as ‘ Kings of Joburg’, ‘Fatal Seduction’ amongst others.

The actress appears on the cover of the latest issue of True Love Magazine was born in Cape Town and always had a passion for the arts. This she shares with her equally famous siblings Oros and Mkhokeli Mpofu.

She went on to pursue a drama education at AFDA where she graduated in 2010 then went on to join The New York Film Academy and graduated in 2013.

Aside from her performance at tertiary productions, her major debut role was the role of Zoleka in ‘Ingozi’. Her story so far is that of hard work, perseverance and believing in your own talent. We will definitely see more of her, especially in the upcoming series ‘Levels’ where she stars alongside Bonko Khoza. The drama is set to debut 7 September on Mzansi Magic at 20:00 taking the slot of epic ‘Shaka ilembe’
