August is one of the most important months, it’s a month to celebrate women. Dstv hosted a few ladies from the Entertainment and Media industry for a luncheon at the Westcliff Hotel in Johannesburg. It was a platform for women to voice out their opinions, ask questions and share their own stories.
I was part of the ladies that were invited and I must say it was such an eye opening event more than anything. Women go through a lot personally and of-course in the work space. It gets too much but we still continue to thrive and face another day.
Minnie Dlamini – Jones was our MC and she did an amazing job engaging with all the ladies. She also shared her own experiences from when she started in the industry to where she is now. She went through it all – from going against her mother’s wishes at some point to being sabotaged by fellow presenters to knocking on many doors to pitch ideas, to growing her brand. We have all watched her grow.
Actress Sihle Ndaba opened up about doors closing on her because she was told that she is overexposed. How do you tell someone in the acting industry that she is overexposed therefore you can’t hire them to do the same job that they went to school for? I also don’t get that.
It was the same cry by Khayakazi Kula and Tsholo Matshaba who asked why talented actors hardly get jobs whilst the less talented are constantly working? That’s one of those million dollar questions that need answers.
Actress and Business Woman, Salamina Mosese also graced us with her presence looking classy and gorgeous as always.
After all the formalities and serious engagements we got spoiled. Spa treatments on the house.
The ladies felt very special.
There was yummy food
The setup was beautiful. Perfect for the Queens we are.
Even the flower wall was beautiful. Loved it.
Thank you so much to Dstv and their team for taking the time to spoil us this women’s month. #WomenAre
