The South African Film and Television Awards are back for their nineteenth edition. This year’s nominations rounded up the best that South African entertainment had to offer when it came to telenovelas, reality tv, presenters amongst other television formats.
Bonko Khoza leads the pack with three nominations for three different productions, “Ithonga”, “The Mabaso Family Reunion” and “Heart of the Hunter”.
When it comes to the production companies behind the shows that had South Africans debating on social media, Tshedza Pictures leads the pack with 24 nominations for their shows including “Ithonga” (10 nods) and “Youngins”(six nods), this is the second year in a row that Tshedza Pictures achieves this.
Quizzical Pictures followed with 22 nominations for their productions including “Reyka” (8 nods) and the second season of “Savage Beauty” receiving four nominations.
Showmax and Netflix also dominated the list of nominations with Netflix receiving 55 nominations and Showmax receiving 59 nominations.
The public will get a chance to vote in two categories. These two categories are Best TV Presenter and Most Popular Telenovela and Soap. The nominees for the two categories are as follows;
