Happy Mother’s Day to all the mothers out there, hope you get spoiled rotten. This is a day we appreciate its existence but it’s also one of those days that are depressing because instead of focusing on the price, some of us are carrying so much baggage and anger from our childhood that we choose this day to let the world know how useless our fathers are/were. WHY?
There is nothing wrong with showing love to our mothers but it’s not OK to praise your mother while bringing your father down. Whether you know him or not, choose another day to focus on your absent father and those deadbeat dads instead of using Mother’s Day as that outlet. The situation becomes disturbing because one doesn’t know whether to ignore you and focus on their own mother or comfort you? Recommended by CapeTownInsider
No matter what a mother goes through alone to raise a child, she can never replace a father, just like no father can replace a mother. So as a single mother myself, Â I will call you to order if you wish me a Happy Father’s Day. I am not a man. I am not a father. Today is the day to celebrate the mother that is me. I am raising my daughter in a household full of love. I am her mother and that is all I can give – MOTHERHOOD. The words ‘happy father’s day to my mom blah blah….’ will never come out of my daughter’s mouth, I will make sure of it. So please stop doing that to your mothers. Love them, appreciate them, show them support but don’t ever forget that they are your mothers and not your fathers.
I believe absent fathers and deadbeat dads will face their demons some day. So let’s not focus on the negative. It’s Mother’s Day today, that’s all we need to focus on – MOTHERS!
My fellow mothers, let’s teach our kids that they don’t have to diss the other parent while praising us. The truth is, without that other half of their parent, they wouldn’t exist. Happy Mother’s Day to you all. Have a great Sunday.
