This year’s crown was claimed by 24-year-old Qhawekazi Mazalane from Gonubie, East London, representing the Eastern Cape with grace and brilliance. The newly crowned queen holds a degree in Speech, Language, and Hearing Therapy and is currently pursuing her master’s in Speech-Language Pathology at the University of Pretoria, with a special focus on autism.
During the final question-and-answer segment — often the defining moment of the competition — Qhawe impressed both the judges and the audience with her thoughtful and empowering message. When asked what skill or mindset she would use to empower the youth, she responded:
“Being able to start with what you have. You won’t have opportunities handed to you, but when you use the tools and resources you have available to you, you’re able to make an impact in your community, and the larger communities that you operate in.”

Joining Qhawe on the podium were ‘Shaka iLembe’ actress Luyanda Zuma, who earned the title of first runner-up, and Alexandra-based flight attendant Karabo Moreka, the second runner-up.
