The talented stage and TV actress and the star of BET’s The Quad, Anika Noni Rose, is in South Africa to experience the best of what the beautiful country has to offer. I am a huge fan of Anika and I have been following her career for years, even my daughter loves her…..yeah, from The Princess and the Frog.
Having enjoyed a successful career on stage, television and the big screen, she has made a name for herself by appearing in films such as Dreamgirls, with Jennifer Hudson, Jamie Foxx and Beyonce, and voicing Princess Tiana in The Princess and the Frog. She was also in one of my favourite series POWER as the crooked cop, Jukebox. Currently she is starring as lead character, Dr Eva Fletcher in BET’s hit drama, The Quad.
On Broadway, Anika’s powerful voice and presence has made her a darling of the stage, winning a Tony Award for Best Actress in a musical for Caroline, or Change, a Theatre World Award and the Lucille Lortel Award for outstanding featured actress. Other major roles in stage productions include Cat on a hot tin roof, A Raisin in the Sun and Company.
In television, her career has seen her feature on some of the biggest shows in major episode-arcs.
While in South Africa, Anika attended a Polo event in Cape Town yesterday. She will also be visiting historical landmarks in Johannesburg including Mandela’s house in Soweto and enjoying the beauty and culture of South Africa.
“The Quad which is in its 2nd season has been well received by BET viewers from across the continent and we are excited to host the talented Anika Noni Rose in Johannesburg. This is part of our continued commitment to deliver entertaining experiences and original BET content on DSTV. We are grateful that Anika is in Mzansi to embrace the culture, love and cheer from her fans” – Monde Twala, Vice President for BET, Youth and Music for Viacom International Media Networks (VIMN) Africa
BET’s The Quad is currently airing its intriguing second season, Mondays at 21:30 CAT on BET (DStv channel 129) #TheQuadBET
