This is our new feature where we will be going down memory lane with celebrities. We will chat to them about their childhood and also share pictures from way before they were famous.
Our first celebrity on this feature is TV Personality, Weza Solange from Luanda in Angola. Let’s look at Weza Then and NOW!
Kiki: In a few words, describe the young Weza Solange.
Weza: I was quite a serious child, kind of a bookworm. I used to be shy around strangers and preferred to always be around siblings to feel safe.
Kiki: Shy? When did that change because you are such a bubbly person now?
Weza: My teenage years! Those years were different, by then I had come out of my shell, very bold and fearless, life of the party, and I was always surrounded by fun people.
Kiki: What goes through your mind when you look at old pictures of yourself?
Weza:Â First of all, I thank God I am aging so gracefully (laughs). Looking at my pics, I see a girl that has always been happy amongst the many struggles faced, I regret nothing, not even my mistakes and I am grateful for the good people I always had around me.
Kiki: What is your best childhood memory?
Weza: It is definitely playing hide and seek with the entire neighbourhood. We’d play and it would last hours (laughs). I had the best time.
Kiki: What is your worst childhood memory?
Weza: I once tried to walk home from school because no one came to pick me up, got terribly lost. I was too young to remember the way home! That was my first traumatic experience as a child, I was so terrified. Eventually I was found, hours later, crying my eyes out.
Kiki: In a few words, describe the current Weza Solange.
Weza: Born again Christian, full of dreams, more bold than ever before, workaholic, extremely happy and fearless! I have the confidence of a Queen, I guess it comes with maturity, knowing and believing in who you are and of course…. GRACE!
Kiki: You’re now a successful woman in Entertainment that is recognised in the African continent. What do you love most about what you do?
Weza: The impact I get to make in people’s lives, the legacy I’m slowly building, the people I get to inspire, opening doors so that my people don’t have to go through what I go through and seeing how proud my family is of me… all this makes me love what I do so much more!
Kiki: What do you know now that you didn’t know then when you got into the industry?
Weza: Being beautiful and talented is NOT enough… had I known that, it would have saved me from a lot of tears and disappointments!
Kiki: Besides being an African Celebrity, what/who is Weza Solange NOW?
Weza: I am the Ambassador for S.A Tourism in Angola. I own a Production, Marketing and Consulting Company. This year my first big screen film as a Lead did a very successful European Tour (The Naked Reality). I am involved in numerous charity projects for Africa. I am the Stop Malaria Ambassador and I was also named the Most Influential Angolan TV Personality in Africa.
