The South African nation ends the Easter holidays in tears. Struggle icon, known as the Mother of the Nation, Winnie Madikizela – Mandela has died at the age of 81.
Mam’ Winnie passed away this afternoon in Johannesburg, South Africa. She was admitted to Milpark Hospital yesterday (1st April 2018), her health then deteriorated and gave in. She had been in and out of hospital for a few years and recently had another operation. It is indeed a sad moment in SA right now because the news came as a shock. Yes, we know she was not well but her death was unexpected.
Mama Winnie is/was the ex wife of the late ICON, Nelson Mandela who she married in 1958 when she was 23years old. They had 2 daughters, Zindzi and Zenani. They divorced in 1996. Let’s take a moment and look at her life in some of our favorite pictures of her below;
