Zimbabwe: Robert Mugabe Addresses the Nation after Being Fired by ZANU PF. #MugabeMustGo

Zimbabweans have spoken – Mugabe Must Go! The ruling party, ZANU PF has fired its leader Robert Gabriel Mugabe. His wife Grace Mugabe was also shown the door.

This has been a clear plan since mid – last week when Robert Mugabe and his family found themselves under house arrest for a couple of days. The Zimbabwean Army staged a coup in Harare which they denied was a coup but a mission to remove criminals around Robert Mugabe.

Almost a couple of weeks ago, President Robert Mugabe fired his deputy, 75year old Emmerson Mnangagwa accusing him of being disloyal. Tables turned and Mugabe found himself on the chopping board and was replaced by the very same person he had fired. ZANU PF appointed Mnangagwa to act as the party leader. Gotta love Politics. Lol

People in Zimbabwe supported the army and marched peacefully to make their voices heard that #MugabeMustGo. No blood was shed, no war, no looting and no bullets. The plan was to have a smooth transition but after Robert Mugabe’s latest nation address, things might change for the worse.

After ZANU PF fired him, it was announced that he was going to address the people of Zimbabwe. Reuters also reported that Mugabe had agreed to resign, and that made everyone look forward to his address expecting him to announce his resignation and say his goodbyes. He made his speech but said nothing about his resignation making people even more angry and disappointed. He didn’t show any intentions of stepping down, instead he spoke about Agriculture and the rainy season. Robert Mugabe is 93years old and has been Zimbabwe’s president for 37years. He is the oldest world leader in office.

Mugabe didn’t announce his resignation. He didn’t say any goodbyes. He acted as if he was unaware and out of touch with reality. Now we wait to hear the outcome of the deadline he was given – to resign by 12pm Monday 19th November or face impeachment.

On the other end, it’s been reported that Grace Mugabe fled to Namibia after she was kicked to the curb. ZANU PF expelled her from the party for inciting hate speech.

We are here still asking ourselves; ‘What was the point of Robert Mugabe’s speech?’
