So much was happening this weekend. There was the MTN Bushfire Festival in Swaziland, and then there was Zakifo Festival in Durban – South Africa, and of-course the annual Bassline Africa Day Concert that was held in Johannesburg.
I chose to attend the #BasslineAfricaDayConcert2017 with my people, and I must say I did have a good time even though I was working at the same time. It was fun. On Friday it was my birthday and I didn’t celebrate it at all, so I used Saturday as some type of celebration. I even went to a club and left there at 4:30am. Lol
As you can see, the line-up was legendary. The show was headlined by Zimbabwe’s Jah Prayzah, with my boy Cabo Snoop from Angola as the surprise act.
All the way from Niger, Bombino delivered.
And so did Petite Nior from Congo
Representing Ghana, was JoJo Abot
The art…….
Kommanda Obbs flying the Lesotho flag
Vusi Mahlasela did it for South Africa
So did Jobie Clarke
.
Kaya fm’s Nicky B held it down behind the deck.
We arrived just before the legendary Ray Phiri could hit the stage. That was around 8:30pm and the weather wasn’t so friendly.
After Ray Phiri, It was Cabo Snoop representing Angola.
He has grown since the Windeck days. His new song Awaa featuring Olamide is also different from Windeck. I am hooked on it. Yeah! You can check our current video of the week to see what I am talking about.
After Cabo it was time for the King….yes King Tha. She didn’t disappoint at all.
I did say it was cold right? I found Jah Prayzah hiding in his car because of the terrible weather.
And then went on to close the show after Thandiswa Mazwai.
I love me some him…..there is just something about this guy. He has ‘that thing’. That camo wear is what made me start paying attention to him everytime his videos play. He WEARS the hell outta that uniform. His height also adds 50marks…hehehehe
People were indeed there to have fun. They ignored the cold.
.
There was the fashion…
We are Africans afterall.
Stunners!!!
I left during Jah Prayzah’s performance because I had to hit the club. Guys, it was my birthday. Lol
What did you do over the weekend? Anyone attend Bushfire or Zakifo that wants to share? Holla!!

Ntate Ray Phiri and his back up singer were lit. Cabo Snoop sang and danced like it was his PARTY! And then KingTha came along, what an artist, what a ROCKSTAR. I sang and I was also jumping up and down. It was a great experience indeed. Africa has talent.
