One of Nigeria’s top comedians, Basketmouth won Pan African Comic of the year at the 7th Annual Savanna Comics’ Choice Awards held in South Africa this past weekend.
Basketmouth was nominated alongside Patrick Salvado Idringi from Uganda, Carl Joshua Ncube from Zimbabwe, Fernando Filipe from Namibia and Masapo from Swaziland.
It was South African, Skhumba Hlophe’s big night as he took home 2 awards. Skhumba walked away with the Flying Solo Award and also the big one, the Savanna Comic of The Year Award.
Loyiso Gola won the Breakthrough Award
The Nando’s Best Friend of Comedy Award went to Goliath & Goliath
Funny man, Elton Mduduzi Ntuli scored himself the Audience Choice Award.
The Comics’ Pen Award went to Mojak Lehoko
This year’s Non-English Award was won by Salesman.
New kid on the block, Thabiso Mhlongo walked away with the Savanna Newcomer of the year award.
A big congratulations to all the winners at the 7th Annual Savanna Comics Choice Awards. African comedy keep growing. We need those laughs.
