My Glass Recycling Challenge! #GlassRecyclingWithKiki

Being green is certainly seen to be trendy, but while many are claiming to be, are they actually green? I have accepted the challenge to go green this month and I’d love for you guys to join me on social media using  #GlassRecyclingWithKiki as the hashtag. Who knows?, I might have a gift for you at the end of the challenge.

The Glass Recycling Company, has challenged me to recycle all my glass in the month of June. I started on the 1st and I have a huge box outside my house where I will be throwing in all my glass this month.

I am looking forward to this challenge because the last time I spoke about glass recycling, I did mention how much I had learnt from attending the event and chatting to the CEO, Shabeer Jhetam. This is my time to actually put in some action and deliver. The fact that I have to keep track of what I do is what I find even more exciting.

A remarkable fact is that 86% of all glass packaging used in South Africa annually is prevented from entering landfill through the dual efforts of recycling and the use of returnable or refillable bottles. Through the returnable system in conjunction with recycling, glass is the packaging type that is most diverted from landfill in our country.

“Recycling should be an important part of our daily lives in order to make a lasting impact on the environment.”

TIPS ON HOW TO SEPARATE AT SOURCE:

I will be doing my part this month and I promise to give you feedback at the end of the month. Please join me on social media using the #GlassRecyclingWithKiki as the #. I will be active on Twitter, Instagram and Facebook. Have your own bag/box, share your glass recycling acts and let’s unite for a good cause. You don’t have to tag me but make sure you use the official #. Like I said, I might have something for you at the end of this month.
