Coke Studio is doing things a little differently this year. The Coca-Cola Company is merging Coke Studio Africa and Coke Studio South Africa into one, bigger, better Coke Studio Africa 2017. We were introduced to Coke Studio Africa 2017 this past Saturday on e.tv. It promises to be an action packed season.
South African Artists like Busiswa and Amanda Black showed up at the Press Conference. The first episode was jam packed with creative collaborations from the likes of South Africa’s Hip Hop maven Nasty C and Nigeria’s Runtown nailing some legendary covers and creating a new, original track. The song is already a hit with social media going crazy over it.
“This hit African music show is sure to bring together the continent’s numerous colourful and diverse cultures in a way that only music can. Coca-Cola South Africa is thrilled to be in its third year of providing African artists with a platform to discover and create, with the support of our longstanding relationship with e.tv. This season promises to introduce some new music styles to new audiences, for the very first time, bringing people together in a uniquely Coca-Cola way,” says Sharon Keith, Marketing Director for Coca-Cola Southern and East Africa.
Coke Studio Africa is Coca-Cola’s flagship African music show. It is a non-competitive music show that brings together diverse African music talent for world-class showcases, while giving upcoming artists the opportunity to work with some of the best local and international music and production talent. It brings together artists from different genres, eras and regions to create a modern and authentic African sound through music fusion.
The production now includes artists from South Africa, Rwanda, Angola, Zimbabwe, Togo, Madagascar, Mauritius, Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania, Nigeria, Ghana, Mozambique, DRC, Ethiopia and Cameroon. The last edition featured Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania, Nigeria, Ghana, Mozambique, DRC, Ethiopia, Cameroon, Cote d’Ivoire and Togo whilst South Africa had its own production. This season will broadcast in more than 30 countries across Africa.
